NECTARI

València, 28 · Mediterranean, produce-led

Since 2012, Jordi Esteve‘s restaurant has defended one single idea and that’s exactly why it shines: Mediterranean cooking with deep roots, no tangled fusions, devoted to local produce and the season. Every plate is a small journey of colour, aroma and flavour; nothing here shouts, everything whispers.

Executive lunch menu, Monday to Friday, an easy, affordable way into this kitchen.

Hisop

Passatge de Marimón, 9 – Creative Catalan

In a small passageway and a minimalist room, Oriol Ivern rereads Catalan tradition with playful notes and turns that surprise. Few starred kitchens care as much about the balance between what they charge and what they plate: his famous red mullet with mollusc mayonnaise has been copied a thousand times for a reason.

‘Àpat’ menu, weekday lunch 40€ (drinks apart). Changes with the season.

PRODIGI

Girona, 145 · Contemporary, well-travelled

Jordi Tarré, trained at El Celler de Can Roca and The Fat Duck, offers a well-travelled reread of the Catalan repertoire in a room of barely ten tables. Its name comes from the crossing of three streets, Provença, Diagonal and Girona, and its cooking, elegant and precise, aims to give its best at the keenest possible price.

Three-course lunch menu, Tuesday to Friday (excluding holidays). Around €38 (confirm current price).

hofmann

La Granada del Penedès, 14-16 – Modern, school-trained

An institution born of Mey Hofmann‘s absolute love of gastronomy, today in the hands of her daughter Silvia and the school’s own team. Through a large window you watch what happens at the stoves: modern cooking with firm traditional roots… and desserts that are a chapter of their own.

Lunch menu, Monday to Friday, with a choice of several starters, mains and desserts.

CAELIS

Via Laietana 49 (Hotel Ohla) · Mediterranean, French-rooted

Dozens of eyes watch you from its neo-classical façade — Frederic Amat’s artwork announcing that something different happens inside. Beyond the door, French chef Romain Fornell, one of the youngest ever to earn a star, signs a Mediterranean cuisine with a French accent: precise, honest, unadorned. His macaroni filled with lobster and foie gras is already a small legend.

Caelis Menu, Wednesday to Saturday, changing every week with the market.

DOS PALILLOS

Elisabets, 9 – Asian, contemporary

Heir to the elBulli philosophy, Albert Raurich takes the idea of the tapa to another dimension: a fusion of Asian cooking — very Japanese — and Iberian produce, served at a U-shaped counter around the open kitchen. Flavours you may not only never have tried: you may never even have heard them named.

Lunch menu for 45€ (drinks apart). Lunch served Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Sunday. A few steps from the MACBA.
